Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Histology Technician to join our team in a clinical laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in preparing and processing tissue samples for microscopic examination, contributing to accurate diagnoses and patient care. This position requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, medical terminology, and pathology. This is a per-diem position, performed on Thursdays. Case load will be between 7-8 cases a day.

Duties
- Prepare and process tissue specimens using appropriate laboratory techniques.
- Perform embedding, sectioning, and staining of tissue samples for histological analysis.
- Maintain accurate records of all laboratory procedures and results.
- Ensure quality control and compliance with lab standards, such as CLIA and OSHA
- Complete yearly competency testing
- Communicate effectively with the Mohs surgeon and clinical team
- Work independently and with team members as needed
- Assists with regulatory compliance by maintaining accurate records
- Conduct quality control checks on laboratory equipment and reagents to ensure optimal performance.
- Stay updated on advancements in histology techniques and best practices.
Experience
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, pathology, and physiology knowledge is essential.
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures related to histology is required, including the ability to phlebotomize when necessary.
- Strong understanding of vital signs monitoring may be beneficial for patient interaction during sample collection.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure are crucial for success in this role.
