JOB SUMMARY
Ideal candidate will have experience in Emergency Room, Hospital Patient Care or Healthcare Administration, scheduling appointments, expediting Emergency Room flow and providing direct customer service to patients. This includes but is not limited to process related to pre-registration, outpatient registration, inpatient admission, oversees the coordination of admission / discharge, and transfer.
In this position, the ER The Patient Access Coordinator is the first point of contact with ER Patients and serves one of the most important functions upon patient arrival. The incumbent will courteously and professionally greet patients and obtain accurate demographic and insurance information for registration. This position will work in harmony with hospital staff to ensure each patient is given the highest level of customer service adhering to the highest standard of ethical and moral conduct fully supporting the mission, vision, and values of the River Oaks Hospital.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to incorporate excellent customer service skills in dealing with patients, personnel, physicians, and peers.
- Maintains consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.
- Obtains complete and accurate demographic, insurance and financial data to complete registration.
- pdates and maintains patient database according to established procedures.
- Facilitates the admission process by notifying the patient of the pre-admit information needed, collects personal information (financial, personal demographics, and insurance) from the patient, discusses patient co-pays / payments, and communicates with the physician’s office as needed.
- Demonstrates ability to manage multiple, changing priorities in an effective and organized manner, under stressful ER demands while maintaining exceptional customer service.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate (written & oral) with individuals and groups of various backgrounds and educational levels in high stress situations.
- Must have some flexibility to work HOLIDAYS.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; some college is preferred.
- Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider. Must have a current card from an American Heart Association (AHA) recognized course.
- Minimum of two years of face to face customer service experience is required.
- Proficiency in Outlook and Microsoft Office is required.
- Experience working in an Emergency Department is preferred.
- Experience working with patient records and charts and understanding of insurance.
- Maintains consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.
- Ability to incorporate excellent customer service skills in dealing with patients, personnel, physicians, and peers.
- EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; some college is preferred.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE
- Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider. Must have a current card from an American Heart Association (AHA) recognized course.
