POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide ground up mechanical support, technical, and process leadership for product development and/or sustaining efforts. Works closely with Design Engineers under minimum supervision. This position is responsible for new platform designs, type I, II and III, including all documentation and data associated with the task.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $78,000 to $118,000 per year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare detailed mechanical or electrical models and drawings from notes, verbal instructions, rough or detailed sketches or marked up prints.
- Show expertise in the design, documentation, and maintenance in sheet metal and machined parts.
- Make mathematical calculations to determine dimensions, hole and component locations and tolerances.
- Perform various designs of sheet metal components.
- Define component parts for data entry to Bill of Materials.
- Work at this level may include the instruction of other Mechanical Drafters.
- Attend meetings to gather information, identify and implement solutions.
- Provide guidance to design engineers with professional opinions, reference materials, testing methods, etc. for all new product development efforts.
- Location: Fort Collins, CO
- Environment: Works in a standard office environment utilizing standard office equipment, a noisy fast-paced lab, and/or clean room
- Must show advanced computer skills with AE defined CAD software.
- Expertise in the design, documentation, and maintenance of sheet metal, heatsinks, cold plates, machined/molded parts and other associated mechanical parts and fasteners.
- Ability to manage projects from start to finish including conformance to scheduling, and resource utilization management.
- Experience with and a sound understanding of typical manufacturing methods: sheet metal, machined parts, casting, molding, extruding, stamping, and 3D printing.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in method, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering schematics and drawings (working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Understands AE processes, from concept to manufacturing.
- Ability to determine methods and procedures on new assignments and provide guidance to other employees.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; including the ability to interface with a variety of departments and give feedback constructively.
- Ability to train, coach, assess, and mentor team members.
- Prefer 10-15 years of related design experience plus 3 years of drafting experience or equivalent education.
- Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
