The Lead Assembly Engineer is a hands-on position involved in each step of the engineering design and assembly of our custom solutions. As part of a cross-functional team, this person will be responsible for consulting with our electrical and mechanical engineers on design efficiencies and any provide recommendations from an assembly standpoint. This person should have extensive SMT experience with exception hand soldering skills, ability to run pick-and-place machines and reflow ovens as well as experience with mechanical assembly and cable harness assembly. Experience running a team of assemblers and desire to assist in building out process efficiencies is necessary.
Role Description
Lead Assembly Engineer
Full Time Hourly
M-F, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Overtime possible
Primary Responsibilities:
- Follow detailed verbal and/or written instructions, as well as diagrams, blueprints, schematics and other technical documents to assemble products
- Hand assembly of wire looms, connectors and harness
- Collaboration with electrical engineers on prototype PCBs and hand assembly of prototype PCBs for testing purposes
- Test finished products for defects, and develop testing procedure documentation
- Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform rework as needed
- Complete preventative maintenance as needed
- Report manufacturing defects in product line
- Maintain the tools used to create products
- Manage and Maintain pick-and-place and PCB assembly line
- Oversee parts stock organization, maintain accurate inventory and replenish/ place requests for supplies as needed
- Assist with creation of product manuals and maintenance documentation
- Keep a clean and well-maintained workspace
- Follow company procedures and directives
Requirements
- Associate Degree from any Technical Training Institute or (3-4) years of hands-on experience
- Ability to comprehend detailed verbal or written instructions, as well as wire diagrams/ schematics, blueprints and other technical documents critical to assembly
- Ability to operate soldering equipment including but not limited to soldering iron, reflow oven and hot air station
- Ability to setup and operate pick-and-place machine
- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Aptitude for mechanics and eye for detail
- Familiarity with schematics and basic circuit structure
- Ability to lift at least 25lbs
- Willing to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods of time
Salary : $65,000 - $85,000
