Field Technician

Position Title: Field Generator Technician

Location: VA, MD and DC (Travel to local Customer Sites as needed.)

Position Type: Full-time

Position Description

Advanced Equipment is accepting applications for a Field Technician in our Lorton, VA Location. Signing bonus to qualified applicants.

Troubleshoot faulty equipment and make repairs as necessary. Performs testing and maintenance on Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), Paralleling Switchgear and Utility/Distribution Switchgears from 20KW to 2000KW. Ability to perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs to generators and associated equipment. Performs retrofits and generator upgrades. Interprets specifications to determine appropriate job costs. Prepares detailed service reports, parts orders and other related paperwork. Performs load bank testing of generators.

Qualifications:

Required Skillset

• Seasoned Field Technician with a minimum of 4 years experience in repairs and answering service calls.

3 years of experience in the following:

• Read and understand electrical schematics in troubleshooting faulty equipment.
• Repairing Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
• Installing and commissioning generators.
• Generator retrofits
• Reading electrical wiring diagrams
• High proficiency with multi-meters and other electrical testing equipment.
• Experience implementing, diagnosing, troubleshooting and performing preventative maintenance service on all types of equipment.
• Must be well organized and can prioritize your workload.
• Possesses good communication skills in order to provide excellent customer service to our clients.
• Must be able to lift and push 100lbs or more.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to mentor Junior Technicians
• Ability to adhere to work schedule and job/time constraints
• Maintains a clean and safe work area.
• Maintains work vehicle in clean and professional manner
• Willing to travel to client locations in DC, Maryland and Virginia.
• Willing to be on-call after regular hours (7:00am-4:30pm)/weekends 1 week every 6 weeks.
• Willing to obtain and maintain required certifications to be successful in the position. (Costs are paid by employer).
