Job Summary:
The Buyer / Planner is responsible for purchasing materials, tracking inventory, and supporting production scheduling within the ERP system. This role works closely with suppliers, production, and warehouse teams to ensure on-time material availability, cost-effective procurement, and accurate scheduling support.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Source, evaluate, and purchase raw materials, equipment, and services in alignment with company needs.
ERP Scheduling & Production Support
- Assist the ERP Scheduler in updating and maintaining production schedules in the ERP system.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and logistics to ensure materials are available on time.
- Create work orders, manage the release of orders to production to ensure timely processing of customer demands.
- Monitor work order progress and inventory levels to prevent material shortages.
- Help adjust scheduling based on changes in demand, lead times, or production capacity.
- Generate reports on material status, production output, and job completion rates.
Inventory & Data Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP system.
- Assist in analyzing inventory levels, reorder points, and material usage.
- Help identify slow-moving or excess inventory and recommend action plans.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships to ensure reliable material supply.
- Issue and track purchase orders (POs) based on inventory needs and production schedules.
- Assist in negotiating pricing, contracts, and terms with vendors.
- Monitor supplier performance, resolve delivery discrepancies, and maintain purchasing records.
- Work with finance and operations to optimize costs and lead times.
Requirements:
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years in purchasing, scheduling, or ERP system support in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with inventory control, demand forecasting, and cost analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strict deadlines.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Global Shop Solutions, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Basic understanding of purchasing, inventory control, and production planning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data entry/analysis.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally as part of job duties.
- May involve extended periods of standing, walking, bending, or stooping.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, or computers.
Work Environment:
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with occasional visits to production areas or supplier locations.
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds when handling materials or documents.
- Occasional travel may be required to meet with vendors or attend industry events.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
