Job Description:
The Optometric Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair and or replacement of optometric equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains and operates optometric equipment, including eyeglasses, contact lenses, vision aids, hearing aids, ophthalmic instruments and other medical equipment.
- Performs and documents maintenance on eyeglasses and contact lenses.
- Performs preventive maintenance on eyeglasses and contacts.
- Performs cleaning on optometry equipment.
- Monitors optometric equipment for accuracy and performance.
- Operates optometric equipment in compliance with established standards, procedures and policies.
- Monitors maintenance records for optometric equipment.
- Monitors repairs for defective parts or components.
- Repairs or replaces defective optometric equipment.
- Adheres to established policies and procedures in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed by the Optometry Department Manager.
- Assists in maintaining a clean work environment by performing various duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning shelves, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
·Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude required.
·Knowledge of optical instruments and vision aids a plus. Knowledge of eye care practices a plus but not required. Knowledge of OSHA safety policies a plus but not required. Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements a plus but not required. Knowledge of OSHA ergonomics standards a plus but not required. Knowledge of eye care terminology a plus but not required. Knowledge of medical terminology a plus but not required. Ability to communicate effectively with patients and co-workers in English a plus but not required. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of your job performance is critical to Advanced Eye Care Center’s success! Ability to work overtime as needed is also essential to success in this position as well as any position within our organization that requires you to work on weekends or holidays is required by your job description.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
