Job Overview
We are seeking an organized, responsible, detail-oriented, dependable, kind, and friendly individual to join our eye care and vision practice as a Medical Assistant. The ideal candidate will be able to gain a basic knowledge of medical terminology, the optical system, and medical billing. Experience with medical coding is desirable but not necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct preliminary testing for patients including autorefractions, visual acuity, color testing, and eye muscle movements.
- Assist with patient medical history documentation and input data accurately into written charts and electronic health records.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as tonometry, visual field testing, and retinal imaging.
- Prepare examination rooms with necessary equipment and ensure cleanliness and organization.
- Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care practices.
- Assist the Doctor and follow directions related to patient care, documentation, insurance, and practice management.
Experience preferred but not necessary. The right candidate will be able to be trained to become proficient in:
- Pre-testing of the visual system and performing/documenting optical measurements.
- Medical coding, medical records management, and medical billing processes.
- Knowledge of optical systems and physiology related to eye care.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
- Understanding of aseptic techniques for maintaining cleanliness and preventing infection transmission.
