Full Job Description
Advanced Eyecare is looking for a full-time Optometric Technician to join our team. Optometric technicians perform a variety of tasks to assist the optometrist in eye examinations. All team members work together in a caring and enthusiastic environment.
Optometric Technician Responsibilities
-Basic office preparation and administrative work
-Record patient medical history and review of systems
-Conduct eye exam pre-testing including blood pressure, color vision, eye pressure, and evaluation of current glasses and contact lenses
-Perform additional eye testing including visual field screening, retinal photography, and optical coherence tomography (OCT)
-Performing minor repairs of broken or damaged glasses
-Maintain electronic health record charting
-Review services and fees with patients
-Maintain contact lens inventory and order contact lenses for patients
-Fitting and dispensing contact lenses and eyeglasses.
-Educating patients on how to insert/remove/care for their contact lenses.
-Assist with cleaning and maintaining ocular instrumentation.
-Take triage calls to determine urgency and type of appointment to schedule
-Light cleaning of office and filing.
*Technician will be cross-trained to help with optician duties such as helping select and adjust glasses.
Qualifications and Skills
-Optometric Technician (or nursing/patient care) experience preferred but not required
-Experience with both contact lenses and glasses preferred
-Familiarity in working with a variety of instrumentation/equipment preferred
-Ability to use a variety of computer programs preferred
-Exceptional people skills, dependability, enthusiasm, and caring attitude required
*Willing to train the right person.

Job Type: Full-time
Schedule:
- 8:30am-6:00pm
- Monday to Thursday
- 8:30 am to 3:00 pm Friday
Experience:
- patient care: 1 year (Preferred)
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
