We are looking for both full-time and part-time Medical Technicians to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the healthcare and direct service fields, will have experience in medical documentation, and will have employment history that reflects the values of our organization. This position is an in-person opportunity in Joplin, MO.
The Medical Technician reports to the Lead Medical Technician, who is under the Clinical Supervisor, who is under the Director of Operations. This position is non-exempt.
Day to day responsibilities of the Medical Technician may include but are not limited to:
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations
• Room patients promptly and efficiently, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming environment
• Accurately measure and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration
• Obtain and document patient medical history, including current medications, allergies, and past illnesses
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, providing clear instructions and support
• Assist physicians and nurses with patient care as directed
• Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout their visit
• Perform basic point of care testing as instructed by providers
• Schedule patients for follow-up appointments and procedures when applicable
• Send referral paperwork to the appropriate care team in a timely manner
• Initiate and complete pre-certifications and prior authorizations in a timely manner
• Assist with procedures including: lesion removal, cyst removal, toenail removal,
vasectomy, skin tag removal, and arthrocentesis injections
• Administering injections as ordered by a provider
• Preparing sterile tools and ensuring sterile environments prior to procedures
• Drawing, processing, and ordering labs as instructed by a provider
• Accurately, appropriately, and professionally chart patient interactions
Medical Technicians will be required to do the following tasks either independently or with a reasonable accommodation:
• Able to stand or walk most of the time on duty
• Able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, pull, climb, reach, lift and perform repetitive
movement of the upper and lower extremities
• Able to move quickly and frequently within the office
• Able to carry needed supplies and set up medical equipment
• Able to read and record data into patient charts and office systems
• Able to communicate effectively with patients
• Able to move patients or assist patients with movement
• Able to work in an environment subject to abrupt schedule changes
• Able to work in an environment subject to emergency and other exigent and
pressing situations
