What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Technician position at Advanced Geomatics?
Survey Technician:
Advanced Geomatics has an immediate employment opening working out of its Novi office. The right person must be self-motivated, energetic, versatile, and possess an aptitude and physical ability to perform both office and field work. An interest in surveying conjoined with a positive attitude is of paramount importance. CAD experience, MDOT experience, or previous field experience using a total station, laser scanner, level, unmanned surface vessel or GPS are a definite plus. If you enjoy the outdoors, do not mind hard work, and have an interest in learning new technology, this is the job for you.
Requirements/Qualifications:
· In-state travel may be required from time to time
· Valid driver’s license (with no restrictions)
· High school diploma
· Authorized to work in the US
· Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and/or harsh environments
· Good organizational and communication skills (oral and written)
· Ability to document details accurately
· Exemplify safe work practices and have concern for the safety of others
Beneficial and/or Preferred Qualifications:
· Mechanical or handyman-type skills and abilities.
· Construction background
· Computer technology background
· 1 years of surveying related experience
· Strong mathematics skills (geometry and trigonometry are a plus)
· Administrative skills
· College background/degree
Responsibilities:
· Working under the direction of our Professional Surveyors
· Projects may include: Design, Right-of-Way, Hydraulics, and Structure Surveys for the Michigan Department of Transportation and/or other local governmental agencies, Remonumentation, Inspection & Construction Surveys for the Detroit People Mover, and private surveys.
· Operate equipment, equipment calibration checks, vehicle maintenance and inventory, data collection
· Following traffic safety rules and guidelines
· Various education and training related to surveying practices, technical equipment, and software
