ABOUT THE MERCHANDISING DATA ANALYST
The Merchandising Data Analyst will be responsible for gathering data and delivering a broad range of analytics pertaining to the global footwear market. This role will support the identification of white space opportunities by capturing trends in product, consumer behavior, retail, and the macro-economic landscape.
You must be naturally curious, analytical, and creative, as the data and information this role will handle will vary greatly. You will enjoy the exciting challenge of balancing an equal amount of standardized reporting on a regular cadence and ad hoc analytics requests; adaptability will be a key capability.
The Merchandising Data Analyst will report to the Director of Marketplace Strategy and will collaborate with the Senior Marketing Manager, account management team, and product management teams. The reporting and analytics will be delivered to these teams, as well as the executive leadership team.

Key Responsibilities of the Merchandising Business Analyst:
Responsibilities for the Merchandising Data Analyst include, but are not limited to:
Data Acquisition

Gathering data from a broad range of sources; for instance:
- Jobs and economic indicators from government resources
- Earnings releases of key partners, brands, and competition
- US Retail performance from Circana (formerly NPD)
- Product attribute, assortment, and pricing information from competitive websites/market research
Product & Attribute Database Creation & Maintenance

Work with the Director of Marketplace Strategy to develop a database of internal and competitive product data
- Scraping brand and retailer websites for assortment information, including key product attributes and pricing to be done seasonally
- Cleansing the raw data and standardization of fields and terminology/language used
- Analysis of the data seasonally and over time
Ad Hoc Analyses & Support
- Support key business partners with data, analysis, and development of new reporting as necessary
- Identify and establish common links between different data sets is a critical skill
- Contributing to or creating customer presentations as needed
Standardized Reporting
- Monthly calendar creation and management for all key functional areas for visibility to key activities and deliverables
- Build and maintain monthly / quarterly / annual Circana report outs using Circana’s Unify and Checkout tools
- Quarterly Earnings Release Summaries for key brands, retailers, and competitors
- Report-outs of key economic indicators and jobs reports and outlooks from government resources
- Trend report outs based on market research
- Regular market assortment research collection and report outs
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of merchandise analytic work experience, required; experience in footwear or apparel industry preferred
- Experience managing large data sets and cleansing raw data required
- Ability to extract actionable insights from data and analytics
- Strategic thinker who can see long-term goals and balance against short and intermediate term needs
- Comfort delivering findings and reporting to all levels of the organization as well as external customers
- Experience designing reporting suites in Circana/NPD with Unify and Checkout preferred
- Experience scraping websites for raw data is preferred
- Candidate must be self-motivated to dig deeper into data to find the actionable insights
- Ability to manage shifting priorities to support capturing opportunities as they arise
- Proficiency with Office 365/Microsoft Suite, with high proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUPS, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, required.
- Proficient English, both verbal and written
- Professional approach in handling confidential and sensitive business, customer and/or employee issues
