A marine technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing the mechanical and electrical systems on boats and other watercraft, including engines, steering systems, generators, pumps, and electrical wiring, performing routine checks, and making repairs as needed; essentially ensuring the smooth operation of a vessel by addressing any mechanical or electrical issues that may arise.

Key responsibilities of a marine technician:

· Preventative maintenance:

Performing regular checks and servicing on boat systems like oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication to prevent future problems.

· Diagnostics and troubleshooting:

Identifying the cause of mechanical or electrical malfunctions on a boat and determining the best course of action for repairs.

· Repairs and installations:

Fixing damaged parts, replacing worn components, and installing new equipment on boats, including engines, propellers, steering systems, and electrical systems.

· Customer interaction:

Communicating with boat owners about repair needs, providing estimates, and explaining repair procedures.

· Documentation:

Keeping detailed records of inspections, repairs performed, and parts used.

Motorboats, Sailboats, Fishing boats, Yachts, and Jet skis.

  • Physical ability to work in tight spaces and on wet surfaces

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
