The Advanced Math & Science Academy Charter School (AMSACS) is now accepting applications for a full-time Engineering Teacher starting in the 2025-2026 school year. We have a unique program that teaches computer science and engineering as a part of our core curriculum that places good value on student ownership of learning and working on many interdisciplinary projects.
Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Engineering Teacher to join our innovative Computer Science team. In this role, the teacher will have the opportunity to support the delivery of high-quality engineering education while fostering a collaborative and engaging learning environment for all students.The teacher is also responsible for teaching Introductory CAD courses that will take our students well beyond just using applications and teach them to innovate and create artifacts using appropriate tools.
Responsibilities
-Demonstrate excellent classroom management and uphold professional standards through punctuality, meeting deadlines, and effective coordination.
-Develop and implement engineering curriculum and course materials aligned with educational standards and student needs.
-Deliver engaging lessons and projects, ensuring personalized guidance and support for all students.
-Facilitate hands-on learning through engineering projects and experiments that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
-Mentor and support students academically, helping them achieve their educational goals.
-Assess student performance through various methods including assignments, projects, and exams, while maintaining accurate academic records in compliance with school policies.
-Collaborate with the Department Chair and fellow faculty to enhance teaching practices and update course content based on feedback and industry trends.
-Create a positive, inclusive, and interactive learning environment that encourages student engagement and active participation.
-Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student success.
-Maintain strong, cooperative relationships with students, parents, and the broader school community.
-Take ownership of achieving course-specific and school-wide student performance goals.
-Teach additional technical courses as assigned, based on qualifications and departmental needs.
Required Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
-Experience in teaching or tutoring engineering subjects, with a strong understanding of engineering principles and practices.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
-Massachusetts teaching license or passed the required MTELs ( If the applicant did not pass the MTELs - they have one year from the date of the hire to meet these requirements)
-Strong commitment to Advanced Math and Science Academy’s mission, values, and educational model.
-Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Master's degree in Engineering or Education.
-Familiarity with a major CAD software package such as Onshape or Autodesk
