School Counselor, Long-term Substitute

Advanced Math and Science Academy, a college preparatory charter school, is seeking to hire committed, skilled, and inspiring educators. The Advanced Math & Science Academy Charter School is currently accepting applications for a long-term substitute position as a grade 6-8 School Counselor and AP Proctor from May 5, 2025 until the end of the school year. Teachers and Staff Members at the Advanced Math and Science Academy will: -Focus intensely on increasing achievement, content knowledge, and character growth for all students. -Create inspiring, challenging, and effective teaching and learning experiences for all of our students. -Be committed to serving all students, including English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities, in the context of the -regular education classroom using a variety of inclusion models. -Contribute to a strong and supportive professional learning community. Job Description The school counselor will provide the following services to an assigned caseload of students ranging in grades 6-8th determined by the Director of School Counseling: -Provide direct academic, social, and social/emotional support services to students individually, in small groups, and in classrooms. -Monitor students at academic risk and collaborate with teachers and parents to help students create a plan for success. -Provides responsive services as needed to address academic, social and emotional concerns. -Facilitate and implement social-emotional learning in the Lower School, including but not limited to: -Designing, updating, and teaching quarterly classroom lessons -Co-coordinating the Lower School Advisory Program -Planning and organizing whole-grade and whole-school activities (e.g. Bullying Prevention Week) -Work collaboratively with other staff, including the other counselors, dean, special education staff, and administrators to help student success. -Act as 504 Team Leader for eligible students in caseload. -Perform schedule changes at the beginning of the year, and assist with the 8th grade scheduling process. -Assist in special projects as assigned by the Director of School Counseling. Minimum Requirements: -Master’s degree in Counseling/School Counseling and Massachusetts School Guidance Licensure grades K-8 and/or 5-12 are required. -Ability to collaborate, work well under pressure, and maintain a sense of humor and humility. -Strong commitment to Advanced Math and Science Academy’s mission, values, and educational model. -Current authorization to work in the United States.
