Job Duties
- Proofread dictated reports for accuracy
- Maintain the assigned folders of reports
- Review all the reports for accuracy to ensure the demographic information matches the one in the patient’s account in PM system
- Review the charges to make sure the report supports the charges billed
- Communicate with office staff to correct any discrepancies
- Handle report requests sent by the billing staff and treating offices
- Place the copies of each report into the treating offices folder for further reference
- Place the finalized copy of each report to the folder to be transferred to the document storage systems
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and billing guidelines
Additional Skills/Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of computer applications, including Windows, Outlook, and Microsoft Office
- Problem solving and organizational skills
- Typing – 50 WPM
- Knowledge of insurance plans, workers’ compensation, and personal injury
- Ability to effectively interact with providers, attorneys, patients, and co-workers
Physical/Mental Requirements
Sitting, standing, walking, reaching above shoulder length, working with body bent over at waist, working in kneeling position, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, working with arms extended at shoulder length, lifting maximum of 20 lbs.
