Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring SMTS Software Development Engineers to research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Plan, design, develop and/or test software systems for software enhancements and new products. Identify and design infrastructure-level features and define how developers will take advantage of them. Define easily consumable APIs. Write code for software modules that implement such features and APIs. Leverage best open source technologies in this space, participate in open source ecosystem, and make contributions. Define test cases for the software modules and writing automated tests. Debug issues in lab or production environments. Profile the system to identify bottlenecks and areas for performance improvements. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments. Partake in all phases of the software development including system requirements analysis, coordinating feature design and development across functional and organization boundaries. Utilize knowledge and experience with computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Four (4) years of experience in job offered or closely related engineering role.
Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field and six (6) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
Specific skills required: The following skills are required:
Position requires four (4) years of experience in the following technologies and/or skills:
1.GPU Shader Compiler;
2.Windows, Unix, or Linux;
3.C, C , or Python;
4.GPU drivers for DirectX, OpenGL, OpenCL, or Vulkan APIs;
5.Object oriented design;
6.Code optimizations; and
7.Software debugging.
