Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring Sr. Silicon Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related-device manufacturing and perform functional and performance verification of microprocessor designs. Duties include Perform functional feature verification of high-speed Microprocessor designs, including development of infrastructure, directed and random test suites at behavioral RTL level across SoC, Core and block hierarchies. Develop environments, infrastructure, and test plans to accommodate both full chip and stand-alone block level verification and debug capabilities using simulation tools, debug tools and programming skills, based on in-depth understanding of the architecture and HDL/logical design of the microprocessor. Participate in development of formal verification techniques. Develop an automated regression infrastructure setup for functional verification of high-speed microprocessor designs. Based on thorough understanding of the design architecture, develop, run and debug x86 assembly based directed tests and random exercisers to validate functionality and testability operation of the microprocessor design leveraging C/C /Perl/assembly programming, logic design and simulation skill set. Resolve all simulation discrepancies and assertion responses for both behavioral and gate level logic models. Measure and analyze coverage results and take necessary actions to fill in coverage holes.

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering.

Position requires education or experience with the following technologies and/or skills:
- Functional verification of microprocessor designs;
- Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL;
- C/C or PERL;
- Computer Architecture or VLSI Design;
- Logic and circuit design;
- x86-64 architecture; and
- RTL Verification, RTL Simulations, coherence protocols, interconnect and memory system design, or design flows/methodologies for chip verification.
Employer will accept skills gained in furtherance of graduate-level degree via coursework, research, projects, internships, and/or theses. Skills may be gained concurrently.
