Our aerospace and defense client is seeking a Global Logistics consultant. Please see the role description below:
- Qualify and negotiate with Freight Forwarders, Agents, and Brokers; This person should have a vast broker network and understand the complexities of inbound logistics into international locations, including:
- Ensuring all shipments are compliant in their respective jurisdictions
- Understand the intricacies of air and ocean freight and be able to negotiate both agreements
- Demonstrated experience in international shipping
- Strong understanding of USML and able to confidently and compliantly classify parts with the proper ECCN number
- Have experience with multi-jurisdictional export license management
- Understand INCOTERMS and coding of Harmonization codes and able to code
- Process Driven and able to develop process documentation
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including down-range logistics, maintenance production, Global Trade Compliance, and aerospace leadership, to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods
- Manage import and export documentation, including customs declarations, bills of lading, and other shipping documents
- Develop and maintain a network of suppliers, logistics providers, and other partners to support import/export operations
- Develop and implement import/export strategies that support the company's business goals and ensure compliance with international trade regulations
- Demonstrated experience with both domestic and international customs requirements and a strong working knowledge of the CBP ACE system
- Support shipping and Global Trade Compliance departments in the development of accurate and timely commercial invoices
- Identify opportunities to improve the timeliness and cost-effectiveness of existing trade lanes between global warehouses and capability unit base stations
- Negotiate freight rates and contracts with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics providers
- Monitor and report on import/export activities, including shipment status and delivery performance
- Manage relationships with customs officials and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with import/export regulations
- Manage import/export budgets and costs to optimize the efficiency and profitability of these activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- 5 years of experience in import/export operations, logistics, or supply chain management
- Knowledge of international trade regulations, including customs procedures, tariffs, and trade agreements
The role is remote, with some travel to key locations. The engagement will last 4 to 6 months.
