Are you a skilled and dedicated Medical Coding Specialist looking to take the next step in your career? We’re seeking a detail-oriented and driven professional to help ensure accuracy in coding procedures while maximizing reimbursement for our organization.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
· Comply with all legal requirements regarding coding procedures and practices
· Remaining up-to-date and knowledgeable of coding guidelines and changes that may impact reimbursement
· Review patient encounters and monitor provider documentation
· Assign and sequence all codes for services rendered. Maximize reimbursement by using correct diagnosis and CPT codes
· Identify and notify supervisor of potential issues that may impact reimbursement
· Submit clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper
· Contact physicians and other health care professionals with questions about treatments or diagnostic tests given to patients regarding coding procedures
Qualifications
· Minimum 3 years’ medical coding experience preferred
· Certification required
· Thorough knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required
· Working knowledge of medical terminology required
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical skills
· Basic computer knowledge, typing skills and 10-key ability required
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required
· Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets
· Ability to solve problems
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and/or governmental regulations.
