Advanced Personnel Resources is recruiting for a new Controller opportunity with our client, a well-established employer located in the Triad. The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial management. This role includes managing the accounting team, preparing financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring adherence to internal financial controls and external regulations. The Controller will collaborate closely with senior management and other departments to provide financial insights that guide decision-making and long-term business strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other relevant standards.
- Manage the general ledger, including oversight of journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
- Ensure timely preparation of tax returns, audits, and other regulatory filing.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise, mentor, and train accounting staff, ensuring a high level of performance and professionalism.
- Review and approve all transactions processed by accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Provide financial analysis to senior management, identifying key financial trends, variances, and potential risks.
- Participate in strategic planning by providing financial insights and recommending actions to improve profitability and financial stability.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure the continued development and maintenance of accounting software and systems, driving automation where possible.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Experience in preparing financial statements, managing audits, and overseeing financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and internal control procedures.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
