What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Quality Control Analyst position at Advanced Plastic Corp?
We are seeking a Senior Quality Control (QC) Analyst with expertise in plastic manufacturing to oversee quality control processes ensuring plastic products meet industry standards and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive testing and inspection of plastic products using established protocols and standards.
- Analyze product defects and identify root causes using quality tools such as statistical process control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), and other methodologies.
- Lead the development and implementation of quality control procedures ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of testing equipment and instruments.
- Document all quality control activities including inspection reports, test results, and corrective actions.
- Review production schedules and collaborate with production team to ensure timely and efficient testing of materials and products.
- Develop and conduct training programs for junior QC staff and production personnel on quality standards, inspection techniques, and defect prevention.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and provide input for product design, process improvements, and new product development.
- Monitor and report on quality performance metrics to management and assist in preparation of quality audits.
- Lead root cause analysis investigations and develop corrective actions to address non-conformities and reduce defects in production processes.
- Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives including Lean, Six Sigma, and other process optimization techniques.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in quality control within the plastic manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of plastic manufacturing processes including injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, or thermoforming.
- Hands-on experience with quality control testing methods for plastic materials such as tensile strength testing, melt flow index (MFI), density, and dimensional measurements.
- Familiarity with industry standards and certifications ISO 9001, ASTM, etc.
- Proficiency with quality management software and statistical analysis tools.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate effectively with teams across all departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience with ERP systems particularly for quality control documentation and tracking.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations related to plastic manufacturing.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform inspections and tests in a manufacturing environment which may involve standing for extended periods lifting up to 25 lbs and working with machinery and equipment.
- Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
