What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineer - Company Wide position at Advanced Plastiform Inc?
The Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining the quality control program to ensure that parts and processes meet established standards for the company and our customers. They will assist with training and mentoring of quality inspectors and operators/staff. This role involves coordination and maintenance of ISO standards and the ISO program, with a significant amount of time spent on the production floor ensuring quality standards are upheld in addition to spearheading first article and continuous improvement activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Follows and proposes improvements of quality control objectives; coordinating with production procedures to maximize product reliability and minimize costs
· Assists with training and mentoring of quality inspectors to ensure continuous control over materials and products.
· Promotes and leads training activities related to product quality and reliability
· Participates with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and or First Article inspections and associated reports, conducts FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis)
· Assists with updates to company ISO documentation, facilitating ISO training throughout the plant
· Assigns and champions Corrective Action Requests to the appropriate personnel for evaluation of failures and to create improved process controls
· Investigates customer issues and communicates with customers regarding solutions
· Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures
· Ensures compliance with all quality, safety and work rules and regulations
· Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Proficiency with various software applications, including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint etc
· Ability to read and understand blueprints, including some knowledge of GD&T
· Strong skill in using various measuring tools such as calipers and tape measurements
· Aptitude for resolving problems quickly and efficiently
· Good communication and time management skills
Education and Experience:
College degree in a business, manufacturing or engineering related field or education and or 2 years of work related experience.
At least 3 years of experience in an ISO certified manufacturing facility, preferably in plastics manufacturing
Prior experience using a FARO or other CMM is an advantage
Physical Demands:
This position will require the employee to spend some time sitting in a quiet office setting. This position will also require the employee to spend the majority of their time on the production floor. The employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, bending and or stooping. This position may require occasional lifting of moderate weights up to 35 pounds. There will also be times when this position will require the employee to travel, locally and sometimes overnight, to customer facilities.

This position requires spending time sitting in a quiet office setting and on the production floor. It may involve standing for long periods, bending, stooping, occasional lifting of moderate weights up to 35 pounds, and local or overnight travel to customer facilities.
The role involves spending time in an office using a computer and in the production area working with quality and production employees. The manufacturing facility has adequate lighting, with noise levels ranging from moderate to high. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) such as Safety Glasses and Hearing Protection are necessary in production areas. Additional PPE may be required depending on the specific job and safety regulations. The production facility temperature can be hot during warmer times of the year, with more comfort during moderate temperatures.
