General Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer responsibilities include following up on MRB related issues to drive toward root cause solutions. Continual improvements to manufacturing to reduce quality problems and drive efficiency improvements. Support the new product introduction process to optimize manufacturability of the product. Lead the technical resources in molding. Develop documented training methods to train molding techs.
Education and/or Experience:
- Engineering associate degree or equivalent experience
- 10 years of manufacturing experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook, Minitab
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be highly safety conscious and quality focused
- Able to operate and set up injection molding equipment and other related MIM operations
- Ability to identify injection molding related defects
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Self-motivated, organized, ability and desire to document processes, ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
- Use of Lean tools: 5 Why, 5S, visual work place, waste elimination
- Excellent communication skills document and share findings/solutions
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- MRB team member responsible for driving resolution to quality problems, particularly in the molding operation but capable of investigating all areas
- Collection, analysis, and presentation of data
- Document best practices, standardize work, create work instructions, develop training materials, and train manufacturing staff to spread the knowledge gained across all shifts
- Assist in implementation of robotic systems, optimize automation of parts handling
- Support NPI process in molding, setup and program equipment, resolve FAI issues. Follow-up after FAI to ensure product can be manufactured repeatedly and reliably
- Assist with the design and approval of injection molding tooling
- Perform DOEs as required with support of engineering
- Assist in the ramp up of new equipment (IQ, OQ, PQ)
- Understand maintenance requirements for equipment, support PM, identify and drive improvement opportunities to increase the reliability of our manufacturing equipment
- Understand feedstock impacts on performance and help troubleshoot issues
- Drive schedule attainment and OTD objectives for molding
- Support continuous improvement projects throughout the facility
- Follow the standards of ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 International Standards
- Develop training materials and documentation. Provide training to mold techs.
- Utilize engineering programs i.e. Solidworks, MasterCam, Minitab
- Ability to fill in on production floor if a constraint arises
- Perform tasks assigned by Director of Operations
