What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machine Operator position at Advanced Product Design?
Advanced Product Design is looking to add a full-time 1st shift CNC Machine Operator position to help assist in the manufacturing of various automotive performance products. The Machine Operator position will be responsible for maintaining the operation of CNC lathes and mills. Candidates will need the ability to learn set up, change tooling, and make needed adjustments to programs and keep machines running.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares each job in accordance with job order, verbal, or written instructions.
- Performs timely pre-set-up actions, inserts cutting tools or tool holders and position tools on turret.
- Verifies accuracy of machined work pieces against drawings by using inspection tooling and gages.
- Adjust program and tooling as needed to achieve the correct specifications.
- Conducts first-piece and in-process inspections.
- Removes burrs or excess metal from machined parts.
- Operate the saw to cut raw materials required for production floor to support machinists.
- Reports any discrepancies to the supervisor/manager.
- Adds coolant to reservoirs of machines and lubricates machine parts and ways.
- Performs regular daily maintenance on equipment, tools, and gages and keeps work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Regular and consistent attendance.
- Ability to follow all safety protocols.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Required Qualifications:
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Experience: 3 years on the job
- Experience working with CNC mills, and with CNC lathes with live tooling and multi axis as well as manual lathes.
- Able to use diverse types of measuring and inspection equipment. (Micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc.)
- Ability to read and create schematics, drawings, and technical references.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mastercam or Solidworks design experience.
