Overview The Medical Biller plays a crucial role in the healthcare industry by ensuring that healthcare providers are accurately reimbursed for their services. This position involves managing patient billing, processing claims, and maintaining accurate medical records. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems, Superbills, including ICD-10 and ICD-9, to facilitate efficient billing processes.
Duties
Prepare and submit accurate billing claims to insurance companies and patients.
Review patient records to ensure all services rendered are documented and coded correctly.
Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10, ICD-9, HCPC and DRG for proper claim submission.
Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies or issues with billing.
Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients regarding billing inquiries.
Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.
Skills
Previous experience with processing superbills
Proficient in medical terminology to accurately interpret patient records.
Strong knowledge of coding systems including ICD-10, ICD-9, HCPC and DRG.
Experience in medical office settings with a focus on billing processes.
Familiarity with medical records management and electronic health record systems.
Ability to perform medical collections efficiently while maintaining professionalism.
Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in billing and coding tasks.
