Position Overview:
The BIM Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Engineer will play a key role in the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) within the BuildLACCD program, collaborating closely with the BIM Manager and the District. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who is well-versed in BIM processes and standards and will oversee multiple aspects of BIM data management, asset tracking, and coordination for bond-affected facilities.

This position requires a detail-oriented professional who is well-versed in BIM processes and standards and will oversee multiple aspects of BIM data management, asset tracking, and coordination for bond-affected facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- BIM and Asset Tracking:
- Monitor and reconcile submittal data related to BIM and asset tracking within the Design and Construction teams.
- Review VDC/BIM scope of work for contractual compliance for Bond-affected facilities and infrastructure.
- Review and upload equipment data from completed As-Built drawings to the CMMS system.
- As-Built Management and Documentation:
- Manage and maintain as-built information related to Bond-affected projects, including researching data or documents in SharePoint, DocView, Proliance, BIM360, or other accessible data sources.
- Create and maintain CAD/BIM As-Built drawings, ensuring compliance with BIM/CADD standards.
- Collaborate with District teams to ensure that Facility Management (FM) data needs are met for CMMS use.
- BIM Standards and Compliance:
- Support the continuous implementation of BIM standards.
- Work with PMO and CPT teams to ensure that BIM requirements meet project scope of services.
- Participate in supporting As-Built/M&O data delivery during Ops Closeout for Bond projects.
- Review CAD/BIM As-Built drawings for compliance and completeness.
- BIM Submittals and Coordination:
- Manage BIM submittal tracking, ensuring compliance with BuildLACCD standards and BIM scope of services.
- Coordinate BIM submittals between project teams and design/construction teams.
- Provide support for BIM 360 model reviews, workflow management, and administration.
- GIS and LiDAR Support:
- Provide support for ESRI ArcGIS and ArcGIS online platforms and review GIS/BIM deliverables for integration with ArcGIS online.
- Conduct LiDAR scanning for current projects and support QA/QC review.
- Manage and link scan databases to coordination and design models.
- Communication and Reporting:
- Attend virtual coordination meetings and kick-off sessions with various teams.
- Maintain direct communication via phone and email with CPT, Design, and Construction teams.
- Provide weekly reports to the BIM Manager tracking progress and milestones.
- Visit project sites and interface with teams as required.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of recent experience in Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field with a focus on Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Demonstrated experience in BIM coordination and management for design and construction projects.
- Proficiency with BIM tools such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Recap, BIM360, and other relevant software.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Additional qualifying experience can substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of and proficiency in using BIM for 4D project coordination and clash detection.
- Experience with data management within SharePoint, BIM360 Docs, and Bluebeam.
- Familiarity with LiDAR and photogrammetry for data collection.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Engineers, Architects, and Contractors.
- Strong knowledge of BIM workflows and standards.
- Experience managing submittals and handling CCDs/RFIs.
- Familiarity with field survey and data collection using LiDAR scanners.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid work environment with periodic visits to project sites as required.
- Virtual coordination meetings with teams across various departments and locations.
