Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate billing claims to insurance companies and patients.
- Review patient records to ensure all services rendered are documented and coded correctly.
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10, ICD-9, HCPC and DRG for proper claim submission.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies or issues with billing.
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients regarding billing inquiries.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.
Skills
- Previous experience with processing superbills
- Proficient in medical terminology to accurately interpret patient records.
- Strong knowledge of coding systems including ICD-10, ICD-9, HCPC and DRG.
- Experience in medical office settings with a focus on billing processes.
- Familiarity with medical records management and electronic health record systems.
- Ability to perform medical collections efficiently while maintaining professionalism.
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in billing and coding tasks.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
