Your role at Baxter

What you'll be doing

  • Develop relationships with Medicaid Administrators (i.e. directors, policy managers and medical directors) to assist in clarification of state policies and find opportunities for coverage development, as they apply to Respiratory Health products.
  • Act as the primary contact for Respiratory Health to Government Programs in communications and meetings, including reimbursement issues preventing appropriate payment of claims.
  • Supervise Government Payer requirements & policies to identify potential changes that may impact Respiratory Health’s reimbursement process. Work with internal teams to improve processes and ensure requirements are documented in both billing system and relevant work instructions.
  • Lead resolution of Medicaid payer issues brought up from Patient & Customer Service (PCS) teams, per the established critical issue process, to result in accurate payments in accordance with Medicaid Payer requirements.
  • Advance questions requiring Legal or Compliance guidance related to reimbursement processes and government policies to appropriate resource in Legal team; work with Legal and Compliance to communicate guidance, where appropriate, and implement any relevant process changes.
  • Participate in industry Trade Associations or State HME / DME Associations to supervise potential policy changes and meetings with Government Programs; Participate regularly in provider outreach programs conducted by Medicaid payers.
  • Collaborate with Government Affairs on state lobbying efforts, where applicable to Respiratory health products.
  • Analyze government program trends applying internal and external data to educate senior management about risks to the State Government Programs business.
  • Maintain communication with senior management regarding major reimbursement issues, changes in legislation or in guidelines at a federal, state and local level.
  • Assist the Coverage Manager on Coverage Expansion strategy development, targeted expansion efforts and acquiring contacts for Medicaid Medical Policy departments.
  • Assist the Managed Care Directors on acquiring new contracts with Medicaid Managed Care programs and lead projects for Medicaid transitions to Managed Care, including contract implementation.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required. A graduate degree a plus.
  • 6 plus years in health policy, reimbursement, Medicaid and public health payment programs is required.
  • 3 plus years of pharmaceutical/medical device proven experience is required.
  • Proven understanding of Medicaid systems and differences in state operations required.
  • Detailed understanding of state programs, processes, and experience preferred.
  • Established track record of cultivating relationships with Medicaid Administrators, specifically directors, policy managers, and medical directors, through articulate written and verbal communication.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $152,000 - 209,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible for discretionary bonuses and long-term incentive.
