Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret blueprints, specifications, and scope documents for fire and security system projects.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment for alarm systems, CCTV, access control, and other low voltage installations.
- Conduct take-offs and identify potential value-engineering alternatives to reduce cost without sacrificing quality.
- Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to source competitive pricing.
- Develop bid proposals, ensuring all required documentation is submitted on time.
- Partner with sales and project management teams to ensure seamless project handoffs.
- Maintain an up-to-date pricing database and bid log for tracking performance and pipeline.
- Keep current with changes in industry codes, technology advancements, and competitive practices.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience estimating in the fire alarm and security/low voltage field.
- Strong understanding of relevant codes including NFPA, NEC, and IBC.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed construction drawings and scope documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software tools.
- Experience working with major manufacturers (e.g., Honeywell, Bosch, Silent Knight, Firelite, Hanwha, Avigilon, Pro Data Key).
- High level of organization and accuracy with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
Preferred but Not Required:
- NICET Certification - Fire Alarm Systems Level I or higher
- Prior field experience in installation or service
- Estimating experience in commercial, industrial, or government sectors
