What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab technician/ Sample processor/ Clinical Laboratory Assistant position at Advanced Spine and Pain, PLLC?
Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalency.
Job Relations: Supervised by: Lab Director, Lab Supervisor, Office Manager.
Job Summary: Understands laboratory sample collections, processing and storage requirements for the in-house testing and referral lab testing. Possesses the ability to organize workload for maximum efficiency, accuracy and to help maintain the quality of patient testing. Ability to handle difficult situations in a lab center.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Safety, OSHA and Biomedical precautions
Disposes biomedical waste according to OSHA standards. Utilizes personal protective equipment as needed. Works within safety and procedures defined by the lab protocol. Maintains the lab in a safe and clean manner.
B. Client relation.
Professional and courteous to client at all times. Helpful to clients in answering questions and follow-up as necessary. Maintain patient confidentiality at all time.
C. Specimen processing and daily tasks.
Ensures that the specimen meets sample requirements. Ensures that the lab requisitions are accurately completed. Orders tests into LIS accurately and in a timely manner. Properly processes the samples and maintain specimen integrity at all times.
D. Inventory control and daily monitors.
Maintain proper rotation of supplies. Orders supplies as needed. Notifies supervisor of any inventory issues. Takes corrective actions when monitors are unacceptable.
Physical demands: Require prolong standing, frequent sitting, bending, stooping and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds. Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and possess good communication skills.
Working conditions: The occupant of this position spends 95% of the time inside air-conditioned work area. The employee is exposed to biohazardous and chemical materials which require personal protective equipment.
