PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Coordinates the activities of production control and EDP department under the direction of the Production Control Manager to facilitate and maintain work in progress for both internal and external customers. Completes all administrative and organizational paperwork of the department. Under limited supervision, performs a wide range of tasks in the production control function.  Develops and maintains records on product shipment and present production activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

· Oversees the flow of parts within or between departments of manufacturing to expedite production.

· Reviews inventory, material requirements, and future production schedules to determine if on-hand materials are sufficient to complete production on schedule.

· Posts and files inventory records, production schedules, and other related information.

· Acts as a liaison between the production control and the manufacturing floor. May assist with determining appropriate production schedules

· Supports Plant Manager, Production Control Manager and Production Manager.

· Follow up from daily meetings if commitments are being kept through the day

· Coordinates New Parts Start Up with the departments to ensure schedule commitments are being met.

  • Performs all duties following established safety procedures and guidelines using assigned safety equipment.
  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor Degree and two to four years of related experience

· Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft office (Excel) and AS400

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the production operations, procedures, products, terminology, quality standards and equipment used in manufacturing      processes. 
  • Requires the ability to maintain records, files and logs, to compile data and prepare reports. 
  • Must have good communication skills. 
  • Requires the ability to plan, supervise and coordinate all activities and functions of the assigned department. 
  • Requires skill in the use of basic office equipment including computer, fax machine and calculator. 
  • Must have management and administrative skills and to be able to interpret data, make good corrective decisions and follow through. 

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES:

  • Follows established parameters of job duties with latitude given for achieving established goals. 
  • Problem solving, creativity and resourcefulness are required. 
  • Judgment, initiative, analytical and evaluations skills are required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

  • Works under the direction of the Production Control Manager, operates within company guidelines where goals and objectives are established with latitude for independent thinking allowed.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACCURACY:

  • Inaccurate data on which decisions are made would result in errors which could range from minor to major in scope. 
  • A high degree of accuracy is required. Editing and proofing would detect most errors. However, undetected errors could result      in loss of materials, poor product quality, loss of company revenue, delays in production, cost of rework, etc. 
  • Customer satisfaction and company revenues could be impacted if errors were not detected.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS:

  • Interacts frequently with coworkers, production and other members of management within the company. 
  • Outside contacts are with suppliers. 
  • The exchange of information and technical discussions requires tact, courtesy and professional decorum.

CONFIDENTIAL DATA:

  • Has limited access to personnel information. 
  • Has access to new design concepts, product drawings and invoicing information which should not be disclosed. 
  • Requires an above average degree of discretion to maintain confidentiality of information.
