Job Overview
- Reports to the Telecommunications Manager.
- Works alone or with a team.
- Provides digital and analog telecommunication maintenance and repair services to include but not limited to Inside and outside plant cable infrastructure and cable (copper/fiber optic) distribution systems.
- Installs telecommunications equipment, systems, and cables.
- Performs telecommunications preventative maintenance inspections.
- Provides normal and on-call/after duty hours support as required to include emergency restoration of communications cabling and conveyances.
- Solves problems by troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and removing/replacing telecommunications equipment, systems, and cable.
- Outside Plant experience is a plus.
- Develops technical recommendations for modification or replacement of telecommunications cable infrastructure.
- Maintains technological standards and investigates and promotes new telecommunications cable technologies for use by client.
- The above mentioned duties require standing for long periods of time, the ability to climb ladders, and the ability to lift overhead 40lbs items.
- Fulfills other work center duties as assigned.
- Provides support to other contract work centers in cases of manpower shortages or unexpected requirements.
- Minimum three years of experience in the telecommunications industry.
- Must possess a minimum of two years’ experience with cable (copper/fiber optic) facility locating, construction, installation, maintenance, and repair to include copper and fiber cable splicing.
- Outside Plant and/or switch experience a plus.
- An associate’s degree in electronic systems technology.
- Equivalent experience can be used as a substitution for this degree.
- Must have or be able to obtain BICSI Technician Credential
