Payroll System Analyst Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for payroll, providing expertise and guidance on payroll concepts, including U.S. statutory regulations.
- Create detailed functional requirements to support payroll systems and processes.
- Collaborate with the Product Team to foster understanding and engagement through content creation, presentations, and participation in volunteer initiatives.
- Exhibit excellent communication, collaboration, and analytical skills, coupled with structured and strategic thinking.
- Demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to achieve challenging goals in a dynamic and innovative environment.
- Analyze requirements to design or enhance payroll and tax processing logic.
- Engage in story mapping sessions with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to outline feature requirements.
- Participate in Specification by Example (SBE) sessions to fully understand the features assigned.
- Contribute to Agile/Scrum activities, including sprint planning, daily standups, story definition, and estimation.
Payroll System Analyst Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, industrial engineering, computer information systems, or an equivalent field.
- In-depth knowledge of HCM/payroll processes, including U.S. Federal and State regulations, tax filing, tax remittance, integrations, and money movement.
- Strong understanding of regulatory tax requirements and administrative functionalities within a payroll system.
- 7–10 years of experience as a payroll SME or functional analyst.
- Proven ability to solve complex problems and take initiative to execute tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated success in working within cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
Payroll System Analyst Preferred Qualifications:
- Payroll-related certifications such as Fundamentals of Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
- Proficiency in analyzing payroll data to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Payroll System Analyst Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with payroll and HCM systems like SAP Payroll, ADP GlobalView, Oracle, or ADP Autopay.
- Experience configuring rules-based systems.
- Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with XML and JSON.
- Agile project development experience.
- Possession of CPP or FCP certifications is highly desirable.
