Responsibilities
- Perform fiber splicing and termination for various types of fiber optic cables.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber routers and other networking equipment.
- Utilize meters and other testing equipment to ensure proper functionality of installations.
- Conduct field service operations, including site assessments and customer interactions.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used during service calls.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in field service or as a service technician, specifically related to fiber optics.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot hardware issues effectively.
- Familiarity with fiber routers and computer networking principles.
- Experience in fiber fusion splicing techniques and the use of related tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of Ethernet cabling standards and telephone system installations is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
