Reactor Control Systems Engineer

OVERVIEW

Will lead new Micro Reactor Control efforts.

KEYS

  • MUST have knowledge of reactivity controls
  • Must have nuclear operational plant experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

  • BS in STEM related field with 12 yrs exp; OR MS 10yrs, PhD 8yrs
  • Strong knowledge of reactivity control
  • Exp with or for Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) or commercial nuke exp

    • PLUS (Preferred, NOT required)

  • Exp in MATLAB / Simulink development for nuclear power plant apps.

    • OTHER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - NOT required :

  • Active DOD Secret Clearance
  • Advanced degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB / Simulink programming languages and scripting experience
  • Familiarity with programming in any of these : C#, C , Python, VisualBasic, or MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with industrial process control and control theory.
  • Practical experience with power systems, thermal energy equipment, or industrial plants
  • Knowledgeable about NQA-1 Quality Requirements

    • ROLE

  • Will be characterizing reactor and power conversion system behavior in terms of capabilities, constraints, and interactions with other systems.
  • Will be responsible for the steady state and transient analyses of the reactor, the power conversion cycle, as well as its support systems.

    • DUTIES

  • Develop analysis workflows and document them in an analysis plan in accordance with QA program.
  • Perform plant modeling using MATLAB / Simulink. Examples : component sizing, operating ranges, performance verification, or accident analyses.
  • Propose design / control solutions to system engineers, based on insights gained from the analyses.
  • Write reports to document model.
