Description : GENERAL SUMMARY
The Laboratory Technician – Chemistry / Microbiology works in a laboratory setting and is responsible for performing various tasks related to chemical analysis and research. A chemical technician’s responsibilities include analyzing substances to determine their chemical composition, setting up lab equipment and monitoring experiments, compiling technical reports, and interpreting results. They should also be able to follow instructions and collaborate with others.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION / COMPETENCIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Adjusts, maintains, calibrates and performs minor repair to equipment.
- Prepares various records and reports related to laboratory operations and activities as required.
- Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations in performing assigned duties and assists lower level technicians in this area.
- Handling and managing chemicals and laboratory apparatuses.
- Gathering and preparing samples.
- Operates laboratory or other equipment such as pumps and rig equipment, as required to execute assigned tasks.
- Procuring supplies, organizing chemicals, and ensuring proper waste disposal.
- Determining and performing tests needed for the analysis and report.
- Identify problems and inform management or senior staff.
- Perform assigned daily analyses ensuring the accuracy of analytical results under the direction of senior staff or management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements :
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
At least five years of professional experience in chemistry-related fields.
