Job Title: Phlebotomist
The Advanced Urology Institute is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for drawing quality blood samples from patients and preparing specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures.
To ensure the highest level of patient care, you must create an atmosphere of trust and confidence with patients in order to draw blood specimens in a skillful and safe manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Specimen Collection: Collects specimens according to established procedures.
- Research and Verification: Researches test/client information to confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems or directory of services.
- Data Entry: Responsible for completing all data entry requirements accurately.
- Clerical Duties: Performs departmental-related clerical duties when assigned such as data entry, inventory, stock supplies, and answers phones when needed.
- Verification: Performs verification of patient demographic information/initials including patient signature post venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
- Maintenance Logs: Maintains all proper phlebotomy logs on time and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
- Training and Development: Completes training courses and keeps up-to-date with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
- Customer Service: Enhances communications by consistently displaying excellent customer service skills in behavior and attitude.
- Additional Duties: Performs other position-related duties as assigned.
Certifications, Licenses, or Registry Requirements:
- Licenses/Certifications: License or certification as required by the State.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Phlebotomy Skills: Excellent phlebotomy skills that include pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Error-Free Work: Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Independence: Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Confidentiality: Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Health and Safety: Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization.
Education Requirements:
- Diploma/Equivalent: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience Requirements:
- Medical Office Experience: 1 year experience in a medical office setting.
