Job Overview:
A Concrete Civil Designer is responsible for designing and detailing reinforced concrete structures for construction projects. They work closely with engineers, architects, and project teams to develop structural plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Structural Design & Drafting
- Develop detailed 3D drawings for reinforced concrete structures using Civil AutoCAD, Revit, or Civil 3D.
- Create formwork, rebar detailing, and foundation layouts.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards (ACI, ASTM, etc.) and project requirements.
Coordination & Collaboration
- Work with civil and structural engineers to refine designs.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and construction teams to ensure design feasibility.
- Review and incorporate survey and topographical data into designs.
Material & Specification Analysis
- Assist in selecting concrete mix designs, repairs, paving, grading and reinforcement materials.
- Ensure appropriate load-bearing capacity, durability, and structural integrity.
- Prepare bill of materials (BOM) for project procurement.
Site Support & Surveying
- Provide technical support to construction teams regarding design interpretation.
- Assist in field verification, inspections, and as-built drawings.
- Identify and resolve design-related issues during construction.
- Retrieve field data and other information to produce drawings.
- 3D Laser scanners, grading tools
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of reinforced concrete design principles, ACI codes, and rebar detailing, repairs, grading and paving.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3 years in civil or structural design, preferably in industrial, refinery, or commercial projects.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit), structural analysis tools (SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro), and civil design software (Civil 3D).
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to clients, contractors, and team members.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of design and documentation.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve design and construction issues efficiently.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and coordinate with multiple disciplines.
Working Conditions:
- Environment: Office-based with regular site visits. May require occasional travel to project sites.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to conduct site inspections, which may involve walking on uneven terrain, and exposure to various weather conditions.
