What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planner/Scheduler position at Advanced Welding VI?
The Refinery Planner/Scheduler is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining detailed project schedules for maintenance, turnarounds, and capital projects within a refinery environment. This role ensures that all work is planned efficiently, resources are allocated appropriately, and project timelines are met to optimize refinery operations. The Planner/Scheduler will work closely with maintenance, engineering, procurement, and operations teams to enhance productivity and minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, update, and maintain detailed schedules for maintenance, turnarounds, and capital projects using scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.).
- Coordinate with project managers, maintenance supervisors, and contractors to ensure accurate scheduling of work activities.
- Prepare job plans, including work scope, labor, materials, tools, and equipment required.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure alignment of schedules with refinery production goals and operational constraints.
- Communicate schedule updates and reports to stakeholders, including management, engineering, and field teams.
- Maintain historical schedule data for future reference and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in all planning and scheduling activities.
- Conduct schedule risk assessments and incorporate contingency planning.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 5 years of experience in planning and scheduling within a refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial setting.
- Proficiency in scheduling software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of refinery maintenance, turnaround planning, and project execution.
- Ability to analyze project data, identify trends, and implement improvements.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Strong communication and coordination skills to work across multiple teams.
- Knowledge of OSHA and other refinery safety regulations.
- Familiarity with CMMS (SAP, Maximo, or similar) for work order management.
