The Infrastructure and Information Security Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing the organization’s IT infrastructure. This includes oversight of systems, networks, and information security protocols to ensure availability, performance, and protection of digital assets. The role combines traditional systems administration with a strong focus on cybersecurity, risk mitigation, and compliance.
Position Responsibilities:
- Sets up and configures software, hardware, and networks.
- Manages and monitors operating system configurations and performance.
- Regularly performs system diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Implements, monitors, and manages security measures including:
- Firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and antivirus software.
- Role-based access controls and security policies.
- Conducts regular vulnerability assessments and applies patches in a timely manner.
- Develops and enforces incident response protocols.
- Maintains knowledge of industry best practices related to threat detection, risk management, and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, HIPAA).
- Assists with internal and external compliance audits and risk assessments.
- Manages secure system backups and disaster recovery procedures.
- Configures and maintains secure local and remote networks, including VPNs.
- Tests, upgrades, and documents system configurations and software deployments.
- Collaborates with external vendors to implement new secure technologies.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, manuals, and IT/security policies.
- Provides after-hours support for critical incidents and security concerns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong technical background across system administration, networking, and cybersecurity.
- Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
- Deep understanding of system security, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, access controls, and data backup/recovery.
- Working knowledge of security compliance frameworks (HIPAA, NIST, SOC 2) and risk management practices.
- Experience with databases, LAN/WAN networks, VPNs, patch management, and remote access tools.
- Proficiency in various operating systems and platforms (e.g., Windows Server, Linux, cloud environments).
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Familiarity with endpoint protection, SIEM solutions, and vulnerability assessment tools.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Critical thinker with attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively with physicians, end-users, and leadership.
- Ability to document configurations, procedures, and incidents clearly and accurately.
- Comfortable providing on-call support and responding to after-hours incidents when needed.
- Ability to maintain sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent phone, communication, and computer skills.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA Security , CISSP, CEH, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), or similar).
- 3 years of experience in a system or network administration role, with increasing responsibility in cybersecurity.
