The Warehouse Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of warehouse duties such as receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or organizing and retrieving stock in the warehouse. Warehouse Clerk may also be responsible for operating and maintaining warehouse equipment, keeping records of inventory and stock, and ensuring a clean and safe working environment. Count and sort incoming merchandise to verify receipt of items against shipping manifest or purchase order.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receiving
Count and sort incoming merchandise to verify receipt of items against shipping manifest or purchase order.
Key and / or post quantity received of all merchandise into computer system.
Check quantity and the visual quality of merchandise received for conformity to purchase order specifications.
Identify, report, and refuse damaged merchandise.
Label merchandise using proper labeling equipment.
Physically counts inventory items to verify accuracy on a regular basis.
Stock shelves, racks and bins with new or transferred merchandise.
Restack merchandise on pallets for proper storage.
Unpack merchandise for proper storage.
Follow procedures for auto and / or manual put away accurately.
Report locations that are full, incorrectly sized, etc.
Frequently inspect material handling equipment to report any mechanical issues.
Follow warehouse safety and 5S procedures.
Ensure proper documentation is received with shipments.
Additional duties as assigned.
Shipping
Retrieve merchandise according to the pick list by location sequence to fulfill orders.
Stage and check merchandise in designated area.
Responsible for weighing and labeling merchandise to be shipped by various freight line carriers.
Print pick lists for outbound deliveries.
Stack and wrap merchandise on pallets.
Check packing list against merchandise for accuracy.
Inspects merchandise for damages.
Load palletized merchandise on various freight line carriers’ trucks.
Responsible for shipping vendor returns.
Maintains records of outbound shipments including bill of lading numbers, charges, carries, etc.
Document tracking numbers in system and track shipment as necessary.
Review BOL and packing slips to ensure accuracy prior to shipment.
Additional duties as assigned.
JOB SKILLS :
High School Diploma or equivalent – preferred.
Prior use of ERP system – preferred.
Ability to stand and be in motion at all times. Flexible enough to walk, twist, bend, stoop, pull, grip, and lift merchandise.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task and work independently.
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Ability to operate and complete forklift certification.
