What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental / HSE - Co-Op Student position at AdvanSix?
Position Summary: The Environmental / HSE Co-Op is an hourly position that will participate in the day to day functions of Health Safety and Environmental personnel of the AdvanSix Frankford Plant. The scope of work ranges from working out in the field alongside operators to reviewing design and process development for HSE functions. Successful candidates in this position show a drive for improvement and ownership of programs within their scope. This is an onsite position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain an organized file structure on current and archived projects
Communicate with teammates daily and make decision on issues related to HSE functionality
Engage team leaders and employees to improve department/area processes and performance
Conduct trainings to plant personnel adhering to compliance requirements
Drive the creation and improvement of standardized work
Develop proposals based on critical information regarding plant productivity and current practice effectiveness
Support daily operations of Environmental Personnel
Drive continuous improvement of current work standards and practices
Work outside during summer/winter conditions
Work co-operatively with cross departmental teams
Assist in compliance sampling
Leverage automation technologies to improve existing work flows
Produce compliance and monitoring reports
Review and write technical documentation
Participate in compliance activities
Maintain workplace condition standards
Analyze historical trends to drive change
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Enrolled in applicable college level program
Additional Qualifications:
Strong commitment to safety
May require working in adverse weather conditions (cold, hot, humid, rain, snow, etc.)
Comfort with working at height
Experience working in a unionized environment preferred
Computer proficiency in SAP, and Microsoft Office
Demonstrated high level communication
Demonstrated technical writing ability
