Position Summary: The Manufacturing Technology Specialist would be responsible for troubleshooting plant issues and giving recommendations. Driving continuous improvements throughout the plant. This role will support the Amines business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary owner of the laboratory development and streamlining equipment in the lab.
Working to troubleshoot issues in plant to support and maximize efficiency.
Conduct synthesis reactions in lab scale reactors
Perform work related to technical support based on the organization’s market needs and strategy
Develop projects and partner with others on the team to generate ideas that will impact the profitability of the business
Lead various engineering and technical projects with an emphasis on contributing to process improvement
Provide process expertise and operating knowledge to solve customer problems and support sales
Work closely with internal customer, project teams, and other colleagues to solve technical problems
Develop functional solutions to complex processes
Be the Amines chemistry expert, understand kinetics and chemistry to support existing and future Amine products
Travel up to 25% of time may be required.
Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Amines chemistry, Amines science, or material science; Ph.D. preferred
Six Sigma Green Belt certification a plus
10 years of experience in related area
5 years of experience developing and testing products and applications preferred
Experience optimizing and commercializing chemical processes a plus
Additional Qualifications:
Broad experience in analytical techniques (Rheology, DSC, GPC, HPLC, IR, and NMR Spectroscopy) and analytical test method development
Hands on experience in operating multiple equipment and interpretation of analytical data for problem solving
Experience in conducting customer-focused projects and collaborating with cross-functional team (business and marketing) to drive innovation
Must be familiar with innovation processes like Stage Gate and able to use Six Sigma/statistic tools
Knowledge of IP processes and patent filing
Execution focused to manage project milestones, timelines, and resources
Technical competence including organic chemistry and analytical chemistry
Strong statistical and computer skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills
Must be action and results oriented
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Must be a creative, innovative thinker
Ability to generate new technology and ideas
Demonstrated leadership of smaller projects or components of larger projects
