SUMMARY:The Strategic Sourcing and Commodity Leader is responsible for the sourcing and procuring of items associated with MRO categories such as Industrial Supplies, Power Transmission, Hoses, Gaskets, and Electrical Supplies while supporting the maintenance organization. The role involves locating and qualifying suppliers and negotiating contracts that provide these items while supporting the transactional workload associated with this spend. This position will place purchase orders, create and maintain outline agreements and catalogs, and minimize the life cycle cost (total cost of ownership) of purchased items using preferred suppliers, e-auctions, RFPs, negotiations, market tests, and by understanding stakeholder needs. This role will ensure supplier compliance for “fit, form and function” of technical specifications. This position will work closely with plant maintenance to support 5 primary production facilities and their storerooms and will direct annual purchases of between $9 and $12 million.
Category ManagementThe Strategic Sourcing and Commodity Leader will be accountable for mitigating supply risk, maximizing value of indirect spend, and driving innovation and supplier productivity with suppliers via the spend managed in their area. The Buyer will:• Develop short-term and long-term category strategies that align with AdvanSix goals for reducing costs and meeting financial expectation, while managing vendor relationships. • Drive consolidation of spend and seek out synergies across the plants where applicable. Consults with key stakeholders, and other subject matter experts to develop alternative solutions; advises on options, risks, total cost of ownership, and business impacts. • Interact with stakeholders to develop, engage and lead supplier relationships for extracting the greatest value in supplier quality, total cost effectiveness, enhanced service levels, risk management, sustainability, and innovation. • Manage the ongoing performance of our suppliers including objective setting and supplier evaluations where warranted.• Support the MRO Manager in developing and executing strategies to consolidate and leverage supply base while reducing magnitude of tail-spend.• Actively seek ways to streamline MRO Procurement processes. • Negotiate multi-site supply agreements with MRO Suppliers.
Procurement Execution• Minimize purchase price and maximize value of supplies using budgetary quotes, Market Basket RFQs, RFQs for single items, e- auctions, negotiations, and through an understanding of the industrial supply base.• Generate Purchase Orders.• Manage SAP automation in areas such as catalog and Outline Agreement (OA) price changes. Create new and maintain OAs and catalogs. Send OA-RFQs, set up and maintain stores material coded items, and other duties as required. • Leverage and improve the compliance of spend with preferred suppliers through effective communication with internal customers. • Professionally resolve problems (both internal and external) including accounts payable differences in a fair and ethical manner.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree or equivalent years of related business experience.- 3 years of procurement or related experience.- Proficiency with computers in the use of spreadsheets, word processing, presentation, and email communication software.- Ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications: - Strong teamwork skills.- Some contract negotiation experience preferred.- SAP experience strongly preferred. - Ability to drive to meet goals without direct supervision. - Highly organized and effective manager of both time and resources.- Ability to balance strategic goals with urgent tactical activity.- Demonstrates personal commitment to meeting the needs of the business.- Prior experience with MRO procurement and established relationships with the MRO supplier base.
