Advantage Benefits Group (ABG) is an independently owned employee benefits firm with locations in Grand Rapids, Traverse City, and Detroit. ABG has a super impressive client list ranging from local prestigious universities, manufacturers, municipalities, and everything in between. We're looking for an experienced Sr. Medical Account Manager to add to our team in GR to help support some of our larger clients and who has in-depth knowledge of self-funded group health plans. ABG employees enjoy working a pretty straight 8:30am-5pm (Monday-Friday) with 1 day working from home, 4 days in the office, with early Fridays in the summer and flex time available during the week.
Essential Duties
Primary day to day contact to provide account oversight and management
Facilitate medical plan renewal process for large employers; some fully funded, most self-funded; including the marketing, quoting, analysis, benchmarking and presentation materials
Present to clients, primarily responsible for compiling presentations
Manage the implementation of new group / product line implementations and renewals
Provide monthly and/or quarterly plan performance reports
Provide periodic utilization reviews in addition to financial reporting
Update clients on new legislation and regulations
Assist with compliance concerns and compliance reviews
Work closely with other internal departments (Ancillary, Reporting, Employee Navigator) regarding client needs
Assist with client employee meetings
Develop positive working relationships with client and carrier contacts
May participate in conducting Interviews and provide input on hiring decisions
Provide performance feedback on supporting team members
Other duties as assigned
Advise the following processes while guiding Account Coordinator(s):
Send out and processing proposals from carriers, including analysis of discounts, benefits, networks, etc.
Resolve claim and technical issues for clients and their employees
Assist in preparation of customer quotes by reviewing RFP’s and preparing quote information on spreadsheets
Perform all clerical duties associated with servicing our clients such as filing, updating customer database, and prospect information
Competency
Excellent verbal, written, presentation and communication skills with extremely close attention to detail
Strong leadership skills; experience managing a team
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF
Ability to take initiative, learn responsibilities quickly and develop people, operations, and procedures
Ability to treat confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Demonstrated professionalism, flexibility, and accuracy in all aspects of work/appearance/manners
Ability to multitask and still meet deadlines with frequent interruptions
Ability to make independent judgements with assigned group of clients
Adaptable to a variety of management styles
Credentials/Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required, College degree preferred
5 years of professional experience – direct industry experience required as well as in depth self-funded knowledge
MI Life / Health & Accident Producer License required
Work Environment
Temperature controlled pet friendly office environment with individual cubical-like workspaces; low noise level
