Senior Civil Engineer - Highway/Roadway

Advantage Engineering Associates, PC is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer specializing in Highway and Traffic to become part of our Highway and Traffic team. This position can be based in any of our three office locations: Cranbury, NJ; Newark, NJ; or New York City. The ideal candidate will be capable of supporting and leading the design and development of roadway design projects and preparing plans. We are particularly interested in candidates experienced in designing roadway geometry, roadside safety features, ADA compliance, site development, utility coordination, creating contract documents (such as specifications, plans, and cost estimates), and traffic maintenance plans.

Experience working with agencies like NJDOT, NJTA, and PANYNJ is preferred.

Responsibilities

·        Assists in the design process and the preparation of construction documents, plans, maps, reports, and supporting materials.

·        Supports the development of drawings for highway, structural, and traffic projects

·        Collects and reviews background information for project sites, including as-built plan analysis and utility service mapping.

·        Aids in quantity calculations and project cost estimates.

·        Prepares documents needed for regulatory agency permits.

·        Assists with preparations for client and project meetings.

·        Coordinates and communicates effectively with other disciplines.

·        Attends training sessions to improve skills in design software and design elements.

Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required

·        6 years of progressive transportation engineering experience.

·        PE License in NJ and/or NY, required. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate and be on-track to obtain a PE License within one year, applicable.

·        Proficiency in Microstation and AutoCAD preferred

·        Experience with InRoads and Civil3D preferred

·        Preferred project experience includes either NJDOT or PANYNJ

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary

The salary range for a Highway Engineer is $120,000 - $160,000. Compensation will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
