Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker / Case Worker to provide comprehensive case management for foster youth, caregivers, and families in a multicultural setting. This role plays a vital part in coordinating care, promoting permanency, and ensuring compliance with agency and state standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to advocacy, a solid understanding of social work principles, and the ability to navigate complex systems such as child welfare and behavioral health to support clients through life’s most critical moments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of foster care placements, providing trauma-informed case management in alignment with Ohio DCY and AFOFC guidelines
- Conduct assessments, develop individualized service plans, and support youth, caregivers, and families through in-home visits and permanency planning
- Collaborate with schools, therapists, courts, and other service providers as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team
- Accurately document case activities in electronic and paper records within required timeframes
- Prepare legal documentation and attend court hearings, case conferences, and permanency reviews as needed
- Provide 24/7 on-call crisis response and support to care providers
- Ensure licensing and regulatory compliance and conduct investigations as needed
- Develop and facilitate training sessions for current and prospective foster parents
- Promote cultural sensitivity, teamwork, and a collaborative approach in all interactions
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
- Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet agency driving requirements
- Ability to pass varying background checks, including state and federal checks
- Knowledge of child welfare systems, foster care, trauma-informed care, and behavioral health practices
- Understanding of child development, behavior management, and the unique needs of foster youth and caregivers
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport across diverse populations
- Proficient in documentation, time management, and organizational tasks
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to provide 24/7 on-call crisis support on a rotating basis
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in foster care, child protective services, or community mental health
- Understanding of regulatory compliance in foster care licensing
- Familiarity with Ohio DCY standards and documentation systems
- Familiarity with community resources related to childcare, housing assistance, and healthcare services
