Position Summary:
Advantage Home Care is seeking an Authorization/Billing Specialist to manage and oversee the authorization process for patient services within a home health setting. This role ensures that all necessary insurance authorizations are obtained promptly and accurately to ensure continuity of care for patients. The successful candidate will closely collaborate with the Billing and Collections Team and be responsible for both authorization and billing processes for Home Health Services under the supervision of the Billing Department Manager. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, knowledgeable about insurance processes, and able to effectively communicate with insurance companies and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Insurance Authorization Management:
o Review patient information and obtain required insurance authorizations for home health services.
o Communicate with insurance companies to verify eligibility, obtain approval, and resolve any issues related to authorization.
o Ensure all authorizations are up-to-date, and renewals are processed promptly to avoid delays in patient care.
- Billing and Claims Management:
o Prepare and submit accurate claims to insurance companies for home health services.
o Review and verify patient information, including insurance details, to ensure
accurate billing.
o Collaborate with the billing team to ensure that all services are appropriately
billed according to the patient’s authorization.
o Resolve billing discrepancies and address issues related to insurance coverage.
o Investigate the cause of denials, work with payers to resolve issues, and
resubmit claims when necessary.
o Appeal denied claims by providing necessary documentation and working closely
with insurance companies to secure payment.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in Home Health Care Billing/Collections preferred.
Software: Knowledge of HHAeXchange is a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficient with PC, MS Word, and MS Excel.
Core Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills are essential.
Work Style: Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
