What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Receptionist position at Advantage Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation?
Busy medical practice seeking to fill full-time position.
This is an in-office weekday position, with major holidays off, and no weekends.
Position Summary:
Performs a variety of receptionist/front desk activities (answering phones/greeting patients) that support the physicians and office staff, and performs a variety of essential services (checking-in, checking-out, etc.) as directed by the Practice Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with and completing all Front Desk operations, and using the EMR system to ensure efficient patient registration and check-in/out processes
- Greet patients, verify and input demographic information into EMR system
- Collecting and inputting all valid licenses and insurance information
- Collecting all co-payments and payments made at time of service
- Reconciling co-payments and time of service payments collected daily
- Maintaining/organizing patient documents and files
- Answering phones, scheduling appointments, taking messages
- Filing/labeling/sending outbound and inbound faxes
- Document distribution of all paperwork and faxes
- Maintain confidentiality when handling patients' medical records and information
- Prior authorization requests from patients and/or providers
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by Practice Manager
Qualifications or Education, Training and Experience
- High School graduate or equivalent. Computer literacy required.
- 1-2 years of previous customer service, medical administrative/clerical experience required
Knowledge and Skills/Expected Competencies
- Business office procedures
- Grammar, spelling, punctuation and basic arithmetic
- Medical insurance and medical billing skills
- Operating all office equipment
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner and proficient using a multi-line telephone system
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, and the general public
- Speak clearly and concisely
- Read, understands, and follows oral and written instruction.
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
